Cooking Camps 2023
So sorry for the wait. We are not able to offer cooking camps this year in July. If you are interested in possible August dates please send us an email and we will notify you with any schedule changes.
(below are last year's camps)
Covid Changes
We will be implementing the following changes for 2022
All staff (vaccinated + boosted) and campers will have been vaccinated. We will have parents monitor children's temperatures and health. Masks will be voluntary for campers. If a camper is at high risk please email before enrolling
Kitchen Coach Cooking Camps, like all our classes are completely hands-on.
Our summer cooking camps are structured like adult classes; The kids come in we have a brief planning session for the day, a demonstration of new techniques and new food items and we begin our cooking. All camps have a small competitive element mixed in to help kids with improvisational skills as well as have fun creating and developing their own cooking styles. They are given a lot of responsibility in a safe environment; room to have great successes, make mistakes, and gain confidence. Kitchen confidence translates exceptionally into other aspects of their lives.
Campers get detailed instruction and practice on kitchen safety and hygiene, this is reinforced throughout the week. We are huge proponents of healthy eating and casually impart nutritional information throughout the recipes and discussions.
While we encourage kids to try new things we don't require; there are always lots of alternatives.
Our philosophy is to let kids "boss themselves". They help themselves to snacks during the day and we discourage comments on others eating habits. The kids work together in ever changing groups and forge new friendships. The kitchen for the week is their place, a place they can come and experiment with food, gain confidence, work with others and expand their repertoire of food knowledge.
We return your children to you at the end of a busy day, tired and full of new food related knowledge, experiences, tastes and ideas.
Camps are suitable for vegetarians. If your child has a severe allergy or food need please contact us before enrolling.
